PROFITsystems, Inc. has announced that Shelley Parlin has been named Chief Operations Officer. In her new role as COO, Parlin will take on the challenge of directing the products and services that PROFITsystems offers. According to Jeff Niskern, PROFITsystems President and CEO, Parlin’s roots in furniture retail bring an excellent balance to PROFITsystems and the management team. Niskern pointed out, “Parlin’s emphasis on service to our clients combined with impeccable project management skills has earned her the respect of retailers and owners industry wide.” Parlin joined PROFITsystems as Director of Professional Services and was rapidly promoted to Vice President of Professional Services. She brings more than two decades of retail furniture experience managing her family’s retail home furnishings store to PROFITsystems. As Chief Operations Officer, Parlin will report directly to Niskern and will have overall responsibility for the sales and marketing efforts first, and will expand as the company moves toward a renewed growth effort in 2009. For now, Parlin’s primary objective will be to enrich the sales department’s development to keep up with growth and client demand, and short-term operations management. Once successfully accomplished, the focus will move to other areas of the company to streamline PROFITsystems’ processes and look for ways to enhance the efficiencies and effectiveness of the company. PROFITsystems has always worked to run a very efficient company. With the new COO position they will be dedicating the resources necessary to evaluate each product offered, as well as service levels and procedures to ensure that they provide their clients with the best experience possible. Parlin stated, “The only way to absolutely know that you have phenomenal products and customer service is to examine and evaluate what you do. Nothing is sacred. Nothing is exempt. Just because things have always been done a certain way no longer ensures that it is the best way. Continued excellence is vital to the continued growth of the company. I look forward to tackling my new duties and to participating in the development of the future of the company.” In addition to her work at PROFITsystems, Parlin is active in WithIt (Women in the Home Industry Today) she has been a featured speaker in the NHFA’s retailer education series at a number of market events, and is a regular contributor to Home Furnishings Retailer Magazine.
