Leila told her wish grantors, Nancy and Emily Slitz, volunteers for the Las Vegas chapter of Make-A-Wish foundation, that she dreamed of having a Hannah Montana bedroom makeover, noting that the television show cheered her up after treatments and she thought it was time she had a “big-girl” room. The mother-daughter realtor team had worked with Bob Maricich, president and CEO of the World Market Center, when he was house-shopping in Las Vegas and asked him if anyone at WMC might be interested in helping them make Leila’s wish come true. Powell was on the list Maricich gave them, along with an opportunity to get into the building, Nancy Slitz says, “and Powell just opened their doors to us completely. The entire showroom was ours for the picking, and we selected a lovely metal bedroom with the whimsical look that made it perfect for Leila’s Hannah Montana dream room. The furnishings installation occurred in Leila’s home earlier this month. “Tom Liddell (vice president and national sales manager) and Neely Peck (also with Powell) could not have been more gracious and generous,” Slitz added. An entire line of Hannah Montana Disney bedroom accessories were donated by Delta, another WMC tenant, in shades of pink, purple and gold, with plenty of pop star spangles, glitter and shine. The big “reveal” for Leila’s room makeover was taped by local television station Channel 3 KVBC for its regular “Make-A-Wish Monday” feature. The room featured new paint and window treatments, as well as new bright purple carpet and mounds of Hannah Montana merchandise from Wal-Mart.
