The ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) National Examiners Committee has bestowed a Chapter Medalist Award to Linda Truckenmiller, ASID, of Hinsdale, Ill.-based Truckenmiller Design, Ltd. The ASID Chapter Medalist Award is the highest award bestowed by ASID on professional members at the chapter level in recognition of outstanding service and significant contributions to their chapter, the Society and the profession as a whole. “Linda being named a Medalist is an incredible honor for our chapter, and I can think of no one who is more deserving than she,” said James Landa, 2007-08 ASID-IL chapter president. “Speaking on behalf of the entire Illinois Chapter, we are extremely proud of Linda. She is not only a consummate professional who is wholly dedicated to her work, but also a tremendous individual bringing great enthusiasm to our field. She has changed lives through her talent and innovative solutions to interior design.” The ASID National Examiners Committee reviewed and judged the submittals from chapter members across the country. The esteemed Chapter Medalist Award is granted based on outstanding service to the chapter and the profession of interior design, including community service; significant local, regional or national contributions to the interior design profession, including educational and research contributions; and continued contributions that have enriched the human experience including design innovation, environmental and/or sustainable design, universal design, and authoring articles that advance the interior design field. ASID Illinois members gathered last week at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago as James Landa and board members presented Truckenmiller with the Chapter Medalist Award. The award was given during the chapter’s annual membership meeting. “I am both privileged and humbled by this experience,” said Truckenmiller. “I’ve been practicing interior design for 35 years because I love it, and being honored for my work and service is the pinnacle of my career thus far. I’m grateful to my peers, clients and family, who have all enriched my experiences and allowed me to explore ideas and create inspiring interiors.” About Linda Truckenmiller: As a past president of the ASID-IL Chapter, Truckenmiller served as chief elected officer, representing the entire membership and best interests of the chapter.
