Vermont Tubbs, the 169-year-old American furniture manufacturer, announced that it will move its production facility from Brandon, VT to Whitefield, NH. Vermont Tubbs was acquired by BSF Transition LLC, on June 3, 2008. BSF Transition is a wholly subsidiary of Brown Street Furniture, headquartered in Whitefield, NH. Vermont Tubbs' case goods will now be manufactured at Brown Street Furniture's production plant, where both companies will operate in tandem. "This move will ensure the longevity of the Vermont Tubbs brand and the future of its great American craft," said Adam Tager, co-owner of Brown Street Furniture and Vermont Tubbs. "All of our employees have been offered a job at the Whitefield production facility and it is our goal to bring along as many employees as possible to the new facility." Twin brothers Kyle and Adam Tager and co-owner Elwin Wright announced the transition this week upon the completion of an intense production assessment period that began with their acquisition of Vermont Tubbs. "When we were approached about taking over Vermont Tubbs we knew we'd face the same challenges of the previous owners," said Kyle Tager, co-owner of Brown Street Furniture and Vermont Tubbs. "Our first priority was to keep Vermont Tubbs alive and healthy and position the company so that it may thrive. This transition, while a difficult decision, is the best course of action to ensure the continued growth of this great company." The transition of the Vermont Tubbs facility to Whitefield, NH will take place over the course of the next eight weeks. To facilitate a smooth transition, the owners have prepared the Brown Street Furniture facility for the increased Vermont Tubbs production. Production lead times will be temporarily pushed-out to 8-12 weeks. By early fall, production times will improve to 6-8 weeks and by the end of the year resume to their current 4-6 week deliverable. Vermont Tubbs production will continue under the same bench- built, quality craftsmanship that has made the case goods manufacturer a leader in the industry for more than 150 years.
