Sealy Corporation unveiled an innovative new Sealy Posturepedic innerspring line. The new line is designed to eliminate one of America’s greatest sleep obstacles – tossing and turning caused by pressure points. “Uncomfortable pressure points are eliminated through the combination of push-back support and maximum pressure relief. Traditionally, mattresses focused on only one or the other,” said Sealy CEO, David McIlquham. “Sealy has cracked the code by providing both in the new Posturepedic line. Our mission is to help the world sleep better, and our new line delivers.” Created and tested with extensive research and pressure mapping, the 2008 Sealy Posturepedic product line offers a new push-back support system. Featuring an advanced PostureTech Innerspring design, it distributes weight away from the heaviest parts of the body, relieving pressure from where it is concentrated. The platform also features Pressure Knock-Out Zones™ – patent-pending inlays made up of materials including memory foam and resilient latex targeted at the areas most prone to pressure points. “Studies show that tossing and turning is one of the biggest obstacles to a good night’s sleep. However, consumers frequently misattribute the cause, not understanding that the problem is often with pressure points created by their mattress,” said Mark Delahanty, vice president Sealy marketing. “This insight was the inspiration for the new Posturepedic line. Excessive pressure from a sleep surface restricts blood flow and creates uncomfortable pressure points that automatically trigger the body to move and restore circulation. These movements disrupt sleep.” The mattress also offers innovative design elements that enhance support in the lumbar region and the back of the legs, helping further maintain proper spinal alignment, blood flow and circulation. This design enables restful and restorative sleep. The new Sealy’ Posturepedic was designed in conjunction with the Orthopedic Advisory Board (OAB), comprised of top orthopedic surgeons and clinicians from leading universities and medical centers. With the goal to design mattresses that help the world sleep better, Sealy and the OAB continue to conduct research to better understand the impact of pressure points and tossing and turning on sleep quality and its effect on health and wellness. The new Sealy Posturepedic Innerspring mattress will be on display in Sealy’s Showroom (B-800) during the Las Vegas Winter Market January 28 through February 1. It will be available to consumers in bedding and mattress stores nationwide beginning spring 2008. The mattresses come in three series, Preferred, Reserve and Signature and range from $599 to more than $1,000, retail price in queen set.
