The Banyan Company, committed to sustainability and preserving natural resources, will debut at the High Point Market in IHFC’s Interhall, Space 209. The company offers eco-friendly case goods, accent furniture, organic textiles and accessories. Introductions include raw, bleached wood collections with clean contemporary lines; accessories made of recycled metals; and organic cotton bedding. Products are manufactured using environmentally friendly techniques, using for example, water-based, formaldehyde-free lacquer that is sprayed in water-washed recycling booths. Glues do not include volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are biodegradable. “Our planet’s population has gouged this fragile earth’s natural resources,“ says Melissa Ennis, sales and marketing director of Banyan. “Sadly, without mandatory standards for sustainability, we have depleted our resources and what rightly belongs to our future generations.” The Banyan Company selected the Banyan tree as a symbol of a spirit of sustainability because the tree is characterized by aerial prop roots which grow into thick woody trunks. Their slogan is “Viva la Verde” or “Long live the greens.” Banyan’s products are outsourced through S2 Resources, an industry leader in global sourcing, specializing in products from India.
