Representatives from the City of High Point and the High Point Market Authority will celebrate the home furnishings industry’s support of City of Hope, a leading cancer research and treatment institution, at a ceremony at the High Point Theatre on October 1. High Point Mayor Becky Smothers will present the key to the City of High Point to Sharon White, associate vice president for development at City of Hope, on Monday, the opening day of Market. Throughout the week, various events will be hosted by Market participants to raise funds for City of Hope, including the annual Spirit of Life Award gala on Wednesday night. Created more than 40 years ago by a group of industry leaders who wanted to help fund the search for a cure for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, City of Hope’s National Home Furnishings Industry chapter has grown to include representatives from all facets of the industry including retail, manufacturing and publishing. To date, the group has raised over $40 million for City of Hope. About City of Hope: City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
