The Spring Air Company said that it had taken another important step this week in upgrading corporate services by naming its first human resources leader. Gregory Moore, with more than 20 years experience in employee and labor relations, joins the company as senior vice president of human resources. Moore joins Spring Air from Greif Corp., a $2.5 billion worldwide packaging manufacturer based in Ohio, where he was director of industrial relations. His experience included work at all of the company’s 38 unionized manufacturing facilities in the United States and Canada. Not a stranger to the mattress industry, Moore spent five years as director of human resources for Simmons. In that post, he helped lead corporate process improvement initiatives and played an important role in Simmons being named to Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Places to Work” list in 2004 and 2005. “The human resources function is one of great strategic importance to a company like Spring Air. Having worked with Greg several years ago, I am excited to have him join the team and create a world-class department for us,” said Chief Executive Officer Bob Hellyer. “As we transition from a licensing organization to an operating company, the development of our people, from training to career path growth, setting competitive compensation and benefits programs, and help to create a better workplace environment will be the areas of expertise we will look to Greg to lead us on.” “This is a time of great opportunity for the people of Spring Air, and I look forward to supporting their efforts by creating a state-of-the-art human resources organization. As we blend individual plants into one operating company, we’ll identify and add best practices to create uniformed services across the business,” added Moore. Moore received his bachelor’s degree in management studies from Georgia State University. Founded in 1926, The Spring Air Company is one of the world’s largest mattress manufacturing companies with more than 1,000 employees in 13 locations. It’s well-known consumer brand’s include: Sleep Rite; Back Supporter; Nature’s Rest; Four Seasons; and Chattam & Wells.
