Growing demand for furniture retail store and point of purchase design expertise from leading strategic design firm GRID2 results in a new position for the New York-based firm. Jennifer Magee is senior associate responsible for developing a furniture retail store-specific division and will provide leadership for all furniture client projects, including concept exploration, planning, design and presentation. Magee brings architecture and interior design experience to her new role with GRID2. Most recently, Magee served as an independent consultant executing contract-based design work. She has completed projects for Lacina-Heitler Architects and Gensler, both in New York, and HKS Architects in Dallas. Magee also taught as adjunct professor for the Department of Interior Design at Pratt Institute and as associate professor, College of Architecture and Design, University of Tennessee. Magee will report to company founder and president Martin Roberts. GRID2 provides design services for a wide range of clients across multiple consumer categories and works with leading brands including Cartier Jewelers, TUMI luggage and Borders bookstores. Recent furniture industry projects include a new retail store concept for Norwalk Furniture, brand identity for Aspen Home and a Las Vegas Market showroom for Spring Air Company. Citing a generally weak economic environment, Robert says, “This is exactly the right time for smart companies to focus on defining or redefining their brand presence,” adding, “The growing demand for intelligent design services from companies like GRID2 is indicative of that.” GRID2 expanded its offices in early 2006 and is located in the Union Square area in Manhattan.
