imm cologne will be even easier to reach in 2007, especially for visitors coming from outside Germany. The new Entrance South directly links imm cologne with the Köln Messe/Deutz railway station for InterCity Express trains, and with the high-speed German rail network. The Entrance South is one of four entrances and service areas (North, South, East and West) that will serve the exhibition centre in the future. Also new is the light-flooded Boulevard, which will connect all of the halls along a central north-south axis. The Entrance South is in the centre of the design axis, which begins in the western part of the grounds (Hall 1) with “d3 design talents”. Here, radical young artists will be presenting their visions of furniture and interior design. The axis continues with “prime” in Halls 2, 3 and 4 (modern living room and bedroom furniture, natural and solid wood furniture, period and reproduction furniture) before ending in the eastern section of the venue with “pure” in Hall 11. The “pure” section will offer an in-depth insight into top design from around the world. As its name suggests, this area will contain the best and most important design developments on 48,000 m² of exhibition space, from Scandinavia, Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and other countries. As in previous years, the upcoming imm cologne will serve as a road map for the coming year in the furniture sector, which makes it very important for the furniture trade worldwide. The trade visitors will be able to view the interior trends of the future and gain a comprehensive overview of the global product range, including furniture, textiles, lighting, interior furnishings and accessories. The clearly arranged product groupings enable the visitors to find their way around quickly and conduct effective business. Occupying 286,000 m² of exhibition space, the 1,300 or so exhibitors from 60 countries will showcase a range of up-to-the-minute furniture and interior design that’s unmatched anywhere in the world. In the section for upholstered furniture alone, over 200 companies presented their innovations on more than 70,000 m² this year. In other words, imm cologne is the world’s largest upholstery show — and much more besides. It is also the world’s top event for flat-pack and self-assembly furniture. Roughly 100 suppliers, including the market leaders CS Schmal, Tvilum and Kare, will be exhibiting an international range of products for this segment in Halls 7 and 8. The first five days are for trade visitors only imm cologne will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday, 15th to Sunday, 21st January 2007. Admission from 15th to 19th January is for trade visitors only. This includes people who work in the manufacturing or sale of furniture, lighting and furnishings. Also considered as trade visitors are architects, designers and interior architects who are active in developing concepts, plans and designs in these specialist sectors. Proof of trade visitor status must be provided when purchasing admission tickets. Open to the public on Saturday and Sunday The days on which imm cologne is open to the public, Saturday 20th and Sunday, 21st January 2007, will enable interested consumers to find out about the new furniture collections in a comprehensive and timely manner.
