The Powell Company announced that it will host a special event for retailers and the press in their showroom on Monday, October 16, at 4:00 PM during the October International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, NC. The event will feature a ceremony presenting a Powell contribution to the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, (founded by actor Paul Newman which includes a North Carolina Camp founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty), a drum line and brass band welcoming ceremony and a delta blues band performance. The event will open with a high energy drum line and brass band from South West Guilford High School playing outside the Powell Showroom at 200 South Main Street, at the National Furniture Building. The group will play from 11am until 2pm Monday. Starting at 4pm, Powell guests will be treated to delta blues music by the “Homemade Jamz Band”, a trio of amazingly talented kids from the same family in Mississippi ranging in age from 7 to 14. They received rave reviews for their performances at the Powell Showroom at the Tupelo Market earlier this year. Powell will make a contribution to the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps which provides outdoor camping experiences for children with serious illnesses and life threatening conditions. Making the presentation and speaking for Powell will be Sean Slack, Executive Vice President Marketing & Merchandising. Receiving the donation and speaking at the event will be a member of the famous Petty NASCAR racing family, founders of a “Hole in the Wall” camp in North Carolina; Victory Junction Gang Camp. Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie founded the camp in memory of their son, Adam. Says Sean Slack, “We at Powell are happy to help this remarkable Association with their work. The most significant satisfaction would be to bring a smile to a child who doesn’t have very much to smile about.” At the event, among Powell’s new introductions are; Max, a fun, functional youth collection with a modern construction and skyscraper feeling, designed by Michael Payne and Vista, a clean, simple, contemporary bedroom group of steel and warm cherry laminate. Founded in 1968, Powell has been a leading importer of design driven, high quality products for nearly 40 years. The company’s success is a result of its service-oriented culture, broad product offerings, multiple sourcing and delivery options, and an industry-wide reputation for reliability, integrity and honesty.
