High Point University Evening Degree Program student Megan Farlow received the Rose Furniture Company Scholarship on Saturday, Feb. 25. Farlow is in her last semester of the home furnishing marketing program. While enrolled in EDP, she has picked up extra interior design day classes to enhance her knowledge base. She is employed with Klaussner Furniture Company in Asheboro where she recently received a promotion as a direct result of her work toward her bachelor’s degree. “We are extremely proud to be able to select Megan as the recipient of the Rose Furniture Scholarship this year,” said Dr. Richard Bennington, chair of the home furnishings and design department. “She is clearly a very outstanding and dedicated individual having earned a 3.6 grade point average (out of a possible 4.0). She works full time in the merchandising department of Klaussner Furniture Company in Asheboro and her success with that company is evidence that she is serious about a career in the home furnishings industry.” “It is an honor to team up with such a fine university as High Point University to provide scholarships to deserving students,” stated Todd Kester, vice president of operations for Rose Furniture Company. “We are excited to provide Megan the scholarship for this year on behalf of Rose Furniture Company.” The scholarship was established in 1999 by Rose Furniture Company, a large diversified retail furniture store ranked by Furniture Today as 70th on its list of top furniture stores in the United States. This scholarship is awarded annually to a senior in the Evening Degree Program who is majoring in home furnishings marketing. The criteria for the award are grade point average, number and type of courses taken at High Point University and commitment to a career in the home furnishings industry. High Point University offers students an extraordinary education in a fun environment with caring people.
