As the mattress industry prepares for the new federal open flame standard, there’s no better place to be than San Antonio, Texas next month. Attendees will learn about the very latest FR products, services and related information at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, where the ISPA EXPO 2006 hosted by the International Sleep Products Association runs from March 1-4. “After years in the making and considerable work on the part of the mattress industry, the fire safety community, and regulators, we are now seeing the final national open flame regulations,” noted ISPA President Dick Doyle. “ISPA will continue to provide implementation education for the industry throughout 2006 beginning with the SHOPtalk at the ISPA EXPO. This formal session, coupled with the resources provided by the many suppliers exhibiting at ISPA EXPO, will provide all manufacturers with the most comprehensive support available.” EXPO participants can get up to speed on flammability at “SHOPtalk: Preparing for the Federal Standard Implementation and Beyond,” an educational program featuring flammability experts and hosted by ISPA in partnership with the Sleep Products Safety Council. SHOPtalk kicks off EXPO on February 28 and includes a comprehensive tour of Intertek Testing Services, where participants will find out about fire testing procedures for the new standard and witness a mattress burn test. Additionally, the huge ISPA EXPO exhibition of mattress machinery, equipment components and materials, including FR products and services, is a must-visit for anyone interested in learning how to meet the new flammability standard or product innovations in general. And they won’t want to miss noted technical consultant Gordon Damant and Larry Saupe of Global Supply Chain Partners, who will be available in the EXPO Welcome Center on the show floor to personally answer your questions about the federal flammability standard on March 2 and 3. “We have worked very hard to help develop an open flame standard that is practical for industry and good for product safety,” said SPSC Executive Director Pat Martin. “At the end of the day, the ISPA EXPO offers the latest information on the new standard and what it takes to comply. It is one event mattress manufacturers and suppliers will not want to miss.” Visit www.sleepproducts/ispaexpo for a list of ISPA EXPO exhibitors and for more program information.
