For the second year in a row, the Wrangler Home™ brand furnished a showhouse top to bottom while raising funds to support children’s literacy. Wrangler Home™ furniture from the showcase house will be auctioned July 24, 2005 at the Comfort Shoppe furniture gallery in Madison, Wis. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to First Book, a national non-profit organization devoted to providing new books to children in need, and the local Advisory Board, First Book-Dane County. The Wrangler Home™ showcase house was part of the prestigious Parade of Homes in Madison, one of the finest home showcases in the U.S. This year’s event, June 11-26, attracted thousands of people who came to see more than 30 featured homes. The auction, including living room, dining room and bedroom furniture, bath accessories, floor coverings and lighting, is the last in a series of Wrangler Home™ literacy events in the area. The Wrangler Home™ Reading Chair, a custom-crafted “chair-and-a-half" specially designed to accommodate an adult and a child, toured Madison last month to generate awareness for the organization. During the Parade of Homes, several well-known community leaders read from the one-of-a-kind, handmade chair, including Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, University of Wisconsin Head Football Coach Barry Alvarez and Madison Police Chief Noble Wray. At the Governor’s Mansion, Wisconsin First Lady Jessica Doyle took a seat in the Wrangler Home™ Reading Chair to support First Book with a special story time for local children. Cornett Homes, builder of the Wrangler Home™ showcase house, the Madison Parade of Homes, and their associated sponsors will also donate a portion of profits from the sale of the house to First Book - Dane County. The Wrangler Home™ brand is committed to giving back to the community through its support of children’s literacy, reflecting the core American values the Wrangler® brand represents. In October 2004 the brand arranged a donation that helped establish the Greensboro, N.C. chapter of First Book. The donation was made by the partners involved in a similar showhouse project in Greensboro, highlighting a weeklong series of children’s reading events that included the debut of the Wrangler Home™ Reading Chair. Developed in partnership with Flexsteel Industries, the Wrangler Home™ collection features warm, rich woods, distinctly American fabrics, leathers and distressed metals elegantly blended to create handsome, welcoming interiors. The collection represents the same quality, style and value that made the Wrangler® brand a household name. “The Wrangler® brand is more than just apparel – it’s a lifestyle,” said George Weldon, director of licensing. “Whether it’s clothing or home furnishings, our goal is to improve the quality of life for our customers.” About the Company VF Corporation is a leader in branded apparel including jeanswear, outdoor products, intimate apparel, image apparel and sportswear.
