he Unfinished Furniture Association (UFA announced that it has selected The Christian Children's Home of Ohio (CCHO) as the 2005 UFA Charity of Choice. During the 2005 UFA National Convention & Trade Show, July 17-19 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, attendees will generously donate unfinished and finished furniture products like tables, chairs, bookcases, bunk beds, decorations and more to CCHO. The products donated go directly to the children in the homes, which bring hope to the lives of many. This is the fifth consecutive year UFA has chosen a charity in the host convention city as a means for the industry to give back to the community and make a difference. To date, UFA has donated more than $150,000 worth of unfinished and finished furniture products to charitable organizations like CCHO across the country. “UFA is thrilled to once again partner with an organization like CCHO,” remarked Jack Campbell, UFA President. “I know I speak for the entire industry when I say we are the ones that should be grateful for this partnership and the good work this organization does to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.” Gary D. Porter, Executive Director of Christian Children's Home of Ohio, Inc. had this to say about the partnership, “Thank you for selecting the Christian Children's Home of Ohio as the Charity of Choice for this year's convention. The gifts from the Unfinished Furniture Association are very much appreciated as they provide us with top quality products without cost. This furniture is a great blessing to all the children we serve. The money saved by our agency can then be spent on the direct care of the hundreds of abused and neglected children we serve each year." The Christian Children's Home of Ohio began with vision and faith in 1969 to serve needy children in a family-style setting. The 175-acre campus is home to five large cottages, offices and a counseling center. In addition to the residential programs, CCHO has Foster Care and Adoptions Services in Wooster, Cleveland, and Columbus that comprise a network of over 100 foster families. The ministry has grown from its humble beginnings in 1969, ministering to five children to where hundreds of children are served annually. UFA is a national trade association of more than 650 retailers, manufacturers and sales representatives in the United Sates, Canada and Bahamas whose mission is to actively support the growth of the unfinished furniture industry and association membership through education and awareness.
