Butler, which produces America’s broadest line of accent furniture, responded to requests from home-furnishings retailers and interior designers for accent furniture with more transitional and contemporary design flair. The company’s initial offering features 25 pieces, each creating an appealing bridge between home décor’s “traditional” and “contemporary” extremes. “Retailers and designers thanked us for filling this void,” he said. “Their orders reflect confidence in significant pent-up demand for accent furniture with more contemporary style. I lost count of the number of customers who told us after shopping our expanded High Point showroom that this is a hot line. ‘This is what we need to see,’ we heard from buyer after buyer.” Butler has more Transitions on the way. They are in various stages of design and prototypes. Transitions offers consumers a comfortable, compelling middle way between the elaborately carved and the starkly straight. It creates a 21st century lifestyle zone for today’s home by complementing that elegant cherry heirloom anchored by Chippendale ball-and-claw feet and that sumptuous leather sofa sculpted from a sleek Italian design. “You can’t go wrong with Transitions,” Sumner said. “Each piece works comfortably in traditional and contemporary settings, truly becoming the brightest spot in an already well-furnished room.” As a category leader, Butler began redefining accent furniture within the trade and for consumers at the October market in High Point, N.C. The company unveiled more than 100 products with innovative designs crafted from exotic materials; offered two new collections, Metalworks as well as Transitions; and introduced 12 finishes. Butler’s line now stretches across 800 pieces – by far the industry’s largest selection of accent furniture. Founded in 1930 in Chicago, Butler focuses 100 percent of its design, manufacturing, distribution, customer service and marketing resources on accent furniture. As a result, the company produces America’s broadest line in this category, including chests, tables, benches, chairs, game tables, console cabinets, secretaries, armoires, bars, entertainment centers, fireplace screens, desks, pedestals, mirrors and globes – all designed to be brightest spots in rooms throughout the home. Typically, 70 percent of the line is in stock in Chicago and shipped within two weeks.
