Memorial Scholarship To Honor Julius Fineman, Founder of Fineman's Furniture

The Walter Kaner Children's Foundation (WKCF) is celebrating its 52nd Anniversary at a Dinner Dance October 26, 2004 at Terrace on the Park in Flushing, NY.   The dinner honors  Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author Jimmy Breslin and Michael Genovese, Coordinator of Service Programs at Holy Cross High School.  The Foundation has benefited over 250,000 economically disadvantaged, physically and mentally challenged children in the NY metro area as well as numerous organizations servicing their needs.   It functions actively with no salaries, no rent and no employees; everyone's a volunteer. The Memorial Scholarship Program will be introduced with the announcement of the first Memorial Scholarships honoring Rosemary Breslin, the Honorable Geraldine Thorner Eiber, and Julius Fineman, founder of Fineman Furniture in New York in 1937.   Julius's son, Seymour Fineman, President/CEO of Fineman Furniture donates office and warehouse space to the Foundation, as well as being one of the major philanthropists supporting the Foundations work.  Julius' grandson, Howard Fineman is a VP with Ashley Furniture.  Contributions can be made to the Walter Kaner Children's Foundation specifying which honoree fund.     Event reservations are required.  For info or invitation, please email the Foundation’s president Kathy Kenny at WalterKaner@aol.com, call  (718) 631-2157 or (917) 709-4957, fax to (212)876-2540 or write to Walter Kaner Children’s Foundation, 2182 Third Avenue, NY, NY 10035.
