Cambridge Lamps, Inc., a manufacturer of lighting, lighting fixtures, accessories, occasional tables and decorative mirrors, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This distinction is born out of a perfect marriage between a classical approach to design and a deep understanding of current design trends. "We are in the fashion business and we must be very much in tune to the trends in design and color," said Stuart Schiller, Chief Executive Officer at Cambridge Lamps, Inc. "We have to be classical within the parameters of current trends and translate that knowledge to the lighting and home furnishings industry." True to this philosophy, the Hialeah, Florida-based manufacturer unveiled its fashionable 20th Anniversary Collection at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, and will show these groups at the June market in Dallas and the Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings market in July. "105 pieces make up this dynamic and important introduction," added Schiller. "It is our largest and most diversified collection ever." It is their most innovative collection, featuring table lamps, candelabras, torchieres, sconces, floor lamps, accessories, occasional tables, mirrors and consoles as harmonious, elegant sets, incorporating design components into some pieces of occasional furniture and accessories to provide an integration of style and function. "This is how we can keep our classic Cambridge look while staying in harmony with today's lighting and furniture accessory fashions," said Schiller. But classicism and innovation would not be able to coexist without what has been the hallmark of Cambridge Lamps since its origins - excellence and pride in craftsmanship. Many detail-oriented artisans finish pieces one by one, assemble, decorate and pack them by hand to guarantee a tradition of handcrafted artistry. "Finishes set us apart," said Schiller. "Not only are they distinctive because they are all finished by hand, but also, they are ecologically safe." Cambridge Lamps is synonymous with beautifully finished, environmentally safe and elegantly designed lamps, lighting fixtures, home accessories, occasional tables and mirrors. They are all part of their 20th Anniversary line, which continues to be introduced at the major shows in Dallas and Atlanta. The ideas for many of the over 105 pieces were actually born in far-away lands, covering territories in the Old Continent, the Middle East, the Dark Continent and the Far East, and brought to fruition by the design and development team at Cambridge Lamps. According to Scott Coogan, Director of Design and Product Development, "To get to the final design concept, a tremendous amount of research and time is spent on replicating the authenticity of the details in each design." Acropolis: Inspired in Old Greece, 12 distinctive pieces comprise this collection. Outstanding among this collection is a chandelier adorned with 12 hand-rubbed excavation glass shades, finished in Cambridge Barcelona with hints of aged gold. The rest of the line, also finished in Cambridge Barcelona and aged gold, includes a table torchiere, an accessory bowl, a flame-topped urn, bookends, plus a sconce and magnificent table and floor lamps. Africa: Eleven tribal-like pieces come from the Dark Continent - all featuring geometric configurations and a combination of Serengetti fog finish with burnished gold. The four table lamp designs are made of Myreeka wood and feature Loom Woven Savannah linen shades. In addition, matching candleholders are spike fitted for candles. These pieces share all their exotic beauty with four casual tables - round and rectangular cocktail tables plus an 18" lounge table, console table, as well as a spectacular matching mirror. Appollon: Greek mythology can become interesting conversation pieces through 12 designs dominated by a swirl ball accent theme with textured beige and Barcelona finishes. A table lamp and a table torchiere have their floor counterparts in addition to a set of candlestick holders and a glass bowl. In terms of casual tables, five pieces are part of this line, including a square end table, a round and rectangular cocktail table, a round lounge table and a rectangular console table. Asia: Inspired by the land of the sacred elephant, this fully integrated group with matching accessory collection has two very distinct design personalities through the use of a Manchester beige finish or a Barcelona finish. Two distinctive elephant table lamps make up this group in addition to two massive urns and magnificently dramatic, overscaled lamps. Another exotic feature is the hand-made goat skin leather-like shades. All the lamps are topped with an oversized finial. A set of candleholders and bowl complete this impressive collection. Campaign: The influence of Victorian England seems to prevail in this collection of lamps and accessories by metal vessels with delicately forged arms and finished in authentic iron with gold leaf accents. Two table lamps in varying heights are topped with hand-made silk shades. A floor lamp is also offered. Part of this collection is a torchiere, two table candleholders and an oversized floor accessory, which is ideal for pillar candles or dried foliage. Great Hall: This graceful line brings back the centuries-old Gothic style from a by-gone era with finishes in Manchester beige or dramatic gold leaf. A table and a floor lamp plus a torchiere are hand crafted in each finish. While lamps feature hand-made silk shades, torchieres are topped with antiqued resin reflector shades. A table and a floor candleholder as well as a statuesque lounge table in each finish complete this collection. A classic traditional old-world inspiration resulted into two fine, hand-cut crystal pendants. A gold leaf finish and an iron finish offer two different elegant design applications. Il Villagio: Italian villages are honored with this four-piece line finished in hand applied gold leaf. Its gracefully elongated vessel theme is topped with hand-made silk shades. It becomes a simple, elegant ornament as a free-standing table accessory. The torchiere has a full-range foot dimmer for adjustable lighting moods. Tympana: Renaissance Italy inspired this line, where hand cast tassels are the dominant theme throughout its 14 elegant designs, all finished in Manchester beige. In terms of lighting, a pendant and a dramatic, five-arm chandelier with hand painted shades join two very graceful table lamps along with a table torchiere, a floor lamp and a torchiere. To accessorize and accent, there is a set of table candleholders and a hand rubbed accessory bowl. A rectangular and a round cocktail table can be matched with a square end table or lounge table. An elegant console finishes this stunning collection. Mirrors: Three accent mirrors in original styles will add drama to any room. Hand-forged columns in a gold leaf finish combine with the natural look of coral rock in a sleek design that contrasts with rococo-inspired mirror adorned with two majestic lions on top. Style and elegance mix in a third mirror featuring hand-carved festoons on three sides of its frame except at the top, which is topped with elegant arches and an oversized casted Fleur de lis. Mirror and Console Collection: Mirror-and-console sets are harmonious, elegant first-timers that can evoke the warm Vineyards of the Sonoma Valley. Carved grapes, leaves and vines in Manchester beige finish, accents the simplicity of suburban living through a hand-wrought lattice design on both the mirror and console table. The elegance of city lifestyle is apparent in Cambridge's forged iron and hand-rubbed lead crystal joined with the natural beauty of washed stone on these creative mirror and console sets.
