Size Really Does Matter... IKEA Chicago will measure 400,000 square feet, the equivalent of seven football fields. This size will make it the largest IKEA store outside of Scandinavia, and the company's third largest store in the world. In fact, a top daily newspaper said the store will "likely" be the biggest stand-alone store in the country. Everything Under One Roof. The store will contain three floors, with the Self-Serve Warehouse located on the first floor, and the Showroom and Marketplace shops located on the upper two floors. Homes Away From Home... IKEA Chicago will contain three full homes, each representing a different "life stage." These homes will come complete with bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and more. The Perfect Setting... More than 100 room settings will be displayed throughout IKEA Chicago, including 40-plus living rooms, 12 kitchens and 20 bedroom settings. In total, the store will house more than 10,000 items. View To A Thrill... Octagonal in shape, IKEA Chicago has been designed with an open center so that shoppers can see from one level to the next. This design also makes the store easy to navigate and allows for the free flow of thousands of shoppers. There's No Need To "Stair"... Moving between IKEA Chicago's three floors will be a breeze. Escalators (there are no stairs) will easily transport shoppers from level to level. Family Friendly Shopping... Like all IKEA stores, IKEA Chicago will have a "Ballroom" for kids to play in while parents shop, a baby care room, strollers, bottle warming and more. Hungry? IKEA Chicago will feature a family friendly 350 seat restaurant serving Swedish delicacies such as meatballs and lingonberry juice. There's also a Swede shop to buy these specialties to take home, and a cafe at the store's entrance. Economic Boost... This store will employ over 400 people from the Chicago area. IKEA Chicago is located at 1800 East McConnor Parkway in Schaumburg, which is between 190 to the North and 1290 to the East. Schaumburg is 8 miles west of O'Hare International Airport, and 20 miles from Chicago.
