Lisa Hughes, publisher of Condé Nast House & Garden, announced today the promotion of William Li, 28, to the position of advertising manager. Li has held several positions at House & Garden since 1995, including stints as national home furnishings director and home furnishings manager. As ad manager, Li will report to William Wackermann, associate publisher. Hughes said Li's understanding of the shelter magazine business and his enthusiastic approach to sales and marketing has been a key contributor to the magazine's aggressive growth since its relaunch in 1996. "William has established himself as a strategic marketer, while our clients respond to his passion for home furnishings and interior design," said Hughes. "This promotion demonstrates our commitment to building further William's role as a key player in the House & Garden organization." Li has become a fast-rising star in shelter magazine publishing. He joined Condé Nast from House Beautiful where he served as account manager, before that he was an account manager at Colonial Homes. Previously Li was a media planner for several top ad agencies including Warwick, Baker Fiore and Grey. Li was born in New York City and graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a B.A. in art history. House & Garden relaunched in September 1996 as the most successful magazine rebirth in the history of Condé Nast. With a growing circulation, currently 550,000, a #2 ranking on Media Week's 1998 annual "Up & Comers" list, and a National Magazine Award nomination for general excellence in its very first year of eligibility, House & Garden has established a leadership position among the hotly competitive shelter magazine category.
