A unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at one of New York’s most prestigious antiques auction galleries will be offered to IFDA/NY members and their guests on Friday, April 5th. Hosted by internationally recognized Doyle New York, the event will include a private preview of their antique galleries prior to their public sale of Fine Furniture, Decorations and Paintings, representing a broad array of affordable English, Continental and American furnishings and art. In addition, esteemed experts from Doyle’s Client Services Department will discuss the fine points of shopping for antiques. Janice Youngren, Doyle’s Director of Client Services, will share helpful hints for attending auctions and exhibitions, and discuss the various methods of bidding. Sebastian Clark, the specialist in charge of the sale, will then lead an informative tour of the exhibition. As a special treat, IFDA will offer its own abbreviated version of those popular television appraisal shows. Guests are invited to submit a photo of a treasured antique, small enough to be brought to the event, along with their RSVP, which may be chosen by experts from Doyle for appraisal at the event. The event will commence at 8:00 AM with breakfast provided by Doyle New York, and the program will run from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. Doyle New York is located at 175 East 87th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues. Tickets are $25 for IFDA members, $45 for non-members and guests, and $10 for students. According to co-chairs of IFDA/NY’s Special Events Committee Anne Bertsch and Jerome Hanauer, "There is no question that, thanks to shows like "Antiques Roadshow," antiques fever has rocked the country. Since antiques are an important element of interior design and home furnishings, we are pleased to continue IFDA/NY’s long tradition of developing antiques-oriented programs for our members and guests."
