The national home furnishings industry for City of Hope will raise hope and funds for cancer research at the Chuck Nader Sr. Memorial Barn Dance benefit on May 11, 2002. Celebrating the memory of Chuck Nader Sr., whose family are prominent members of Southern California’s furniture industry, the annual tribute will take place at the popular Chuck Nader’s Classic Barn in Los Angeles and feature entertainment, special tributes and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will help fund City of Hope’s innovative cancer research and treatment programs. The Chuck Nader Sr. Memorial Barn Dance was established by sons Chuck Jr., George, Fred, Paul and Michael Nader in memory of their father, who passed away from bladder cancer in 1996. "The Nader family, so personally touched by cancer, has built an admirable legacy that ensures research can continue and that people with cancer have a greater chance for survival," said Sharon White-Kuo, senior director of Development of City of Hope’s Atlanta National office. "The home furnishings industry has shown an uncommon commitment to advancing research and ensuring better and more effective treatment options for the millions who suffer from cancer." Last year’s Nader Barn Dance event raised nearly $40,000 for cancer research and treatment. To date, the home furnishings industry has raised $17 million for City of Hope.
