Here are a few details: The new Furniture.com will join efforts with Levitz Furniture Corporation and Seaman Furniture Company to offer consumers the best of both Internet and in-store shopping, merging the convenience, accessibility and ease of online shopping with the physical presence and proven infrastructure of two of the nation's largest retail furniture chains. Online at Furniture.com (www.furniture.com), consumers can quickly browse, compare and buy brand-name furniture and accessories, access decorating advice and product information, and utilize interactive design tools. To complete the experience, more than 100 Levitz an Seaman's stores will provide local showrooms, customer service and fast delivery. Customers can track their orders and schedule in-home deliveries online, with most items available in just one to two weeks. Furniture.com will bring Levitz and Seaman's stores on-line during the coming months and partnerships with other retail chains will be announced as Furniture.com moves to extend its delivery reach nationwide. In the meantime, consumers in areas not serviced by a local partner - a Levitz, Seaman's or other furniture retailer - may access the extensive content and tools available on Furniture.com and register to be notified as new showrooms - and sales and delivery services – are announced in their area. Furniture Background : Incorporated in Dec. 2000, Furniture.com, Inc., led by president Carl Prindle, purchased the category-leading domain name and intellectual property from the namesake firm that closed in Nov. 2000. Prindle and his key managers are from the previous company, where they were responsible for the website, merchandising and direct marketing campaigns. Furniture.com is a privately-held company, backed by a private equity firm with over $1.0 billion in committed capital.
