Qoro, Inc., will introduce its first collection of Winterthur reproduction paintings at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, NC, October 17-23, 2002, in the Kindel Furniture Company showroom at 242 North Hamilton Street. The semiannual market is the largest home furnishings tradeshow in the world. The new reproduction paintings will be showcased with furniture reproductions by Kindel, a Winterthur licensee since 1980. "We are pleased to have a High Point presence in this market and to be able to offer buyers and interior designers reproduction paintings from the collection amassed by Winterthur founder Henry Francis du Pont," says Qoro president, CEO and founder William Jensen. "Visitors to the Kindel showroom will have a splendid opportunity to see how the reproduction paintings complement fine furniture." The new Winterthur collection of Qorographs(r) combines state-of-the-art, computer-imaging techniques with ground-breaking color technology to produce astonishingly accurate reproductions that are colorfast and water resistant. This combination of patented technologies surpasses any other method or system currently available. During the 20th century, Henry Francis du Pont (1880-1969) acquired American antiques made between 1640 and 1860 for their great beauty and superb craftsmanship. Du Pont was drawn also to objects with interesting histories, especially those demonstrating what he called "evidences of America's past." The collection of paintings he amassed includes works by important artists and works that document significant events in history. John Trumbull's 1790 painting Washington at Verplanck's Point shows a strong, confident and commanding leader, horse at his side, as he inspects his troops. This depiction was described as "the most perfect extant likeness" by George Washington Parke Custis, Martha Washington's grandson. A wide variety of such patriotic images are represented in Qoro's Winterthur collection, including Benjamin West's unfinished painting American Commissioners of the Preliminary Peace Negotiations with Great Britain (1783-1784). Each Winterthur Qorograph(r) is framed with molding that reflects the spirit of the painting and complements the beauty of the image. Winterthur Paintings on Exhibit at the National Gallery of Art: The two original paintings named above are among the antiques furnishings currently on loan to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C., as part of the exhibition "An American Vision: Henry Francis du Pont's Winterthur Museum." The exhibition runs through October 6, 2002. About the Winterthur Licensed Products Program: The Winterthur Licensed Products program this year celebrates its 20th anniversary in the home furnishings and decorative accessories licensing business. Currently, Winterthur licenses more than 30 companies to reproduce, adapt or interpret designs from its internationally famous collection.
