Isn’t it strange when you don’t see something right in front of your eyes? Recently, in my case, it was cat food.

My cat food container was running low, so I went to my always well-stocked pantry. No cat food. “That’s strange,” I thought.

I looked at my grocery list and “cat food” wasn’t on it. “That’s really strange.” When I get down to one bag of cat food in my pantry, I always put it on my list. I went back to the pantry and looked again, still no cat food.

It was one of those days when I had way too much to do. The last thing I needed was to make a run to the store.

But my kitty was hungry, so shopping I went and I purchased two bags of cat food.

When I got home, I filled up my container and I went to the pantry to store the extra bag. Of course, you can imagine what happened next. Yep, right there, front and center, was a nice big bag of cat food.

Why did I miss what was right in front of my eyes? I don’t know. It happens to all of us from time to time — our eyes and minds play tricks on us.

It’s that way with important items on your web pages. You think your Special, or Buy Now button, or phone number, or physical address is obvious to anyone and everyone.

But if you have those important items in just one place on your web page, you can assume that for many of your visitors are missing them.

I often have a difficult time finding an important item on a new client’s web page, and it isn’t because it’s buried. It’s just the way our human eyes and brains work.

Easy Furniture Web Tip #139: When possible, put important elements on a web page in more than one place. I recommend three placements. Don’t worry about being redundant.
