This week’s Easy Web Tip is really easy. In fact, some of you will yawn.

But if you don’t already know this little tip, you will be very happy today.

If you’re working on your website and the style commands were set up by your web developer, you probably have a style that when you hit the return near the end of the line, two line spaces are created for a new paragraph.

But maybe you don’t want a new paragraph. In fact, you want to break the upper line at a certain point, as opposed to continuing to type and letting the line break at the default. This happens a lot when you’re crafting headlines.
 
Say your headline reads …

Are you longing for a dining room that can host both a pizza party and an elegant dinner for the boss?

The default command breaks between ”elegant” and “dinner.” You want to keep that phrase together, so you hit your return after “and” and this is what your system gives you …

Well, that looks terrible. Here’s the fix. Instead of hitting just the return key, press Shift+Return and it will keep the lines together. The result …

I have found this works not only in web editors, but in other offline documents as well.
