Although infant and children’s mattress manufacturer Naturepedic already carries certifications like the GOTS Certified Organic seal and GREENGUARD, the Ohio-based company announced that it was adding the Special Sleep Associations’ (SSA) Environmental Seal to its products because it feels the trade group’s moniker is an important step in better informing and educating consumers on the ingredients in their products.

“As an organic bedding manufacturer, no one in the industry comes close to the standards we apply in producing natural and environmentally friendly bedding. But we strong believe in the SSA seal and the importance it will have at the retail level, in educating and better informing consumers about the components in their sleep products,” said Naturepedic’s Barry Cik.

Naturepedic joins a growing list of manufacturers carrying the new SSA seals, including Boyd Specialty Sleep Products and Natura World.

“We are thrilled to have Naturepedic join our growing roster of manufacturers carrying our seal particularly given the high environmental and nature standards they already adhere to. It shows that our program resonates not only with mainstream manufacturers, but more niche oriented players as well,” said SSA President Dale Read.

Naturepedic is the first and only mattress company to specialize exclusively in the design and manufacturing of infant and children’s mattresses that promote natural and organic materials, a non-toxic design, fire safety and baby health. All its products have been designed with the help of pediatricians, orthopedic specialists, chemists and engineers. All Naturepedic products are manufactured in the company’s eco-factory in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Founded in 1995, the Specialty Sleep Association (SSA) is a national not-for-profit organization created to facilitate the growth and positive awareness of the specialty sleep category.
