IFFS announced that visitors to the International Furniture Fair Singapore 2011/28th ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS 2011) can expect to see a more diverse range of furniture, furnishings and decor items designed to cater to the specific needs of the growing hospitality sector at the Fair. Hospitality Asia 2011, a brand new show-within-a-show will be marking its debut in March next year. Co-located within IFFS/AFS 2011, Hospitality Asia 2011 will occupy 5,000 of the total 70,000 square metres set aside for IFFS/AFS 2011.

The show which will be held during the same period as IFFS/AFS 2011 from 9 to 12 March aims to showcase the latest product lines and developments in hospitality and contract furniture, furnishings and design, F&B furnishings and design, art & decorative pieces, fixtures and fittings, lighting and accessories, tableware, bathroom equipment and fixtures, beddings, fabrics and drapery, security and safe systems, in-house entertainment systems, landscaping solutions as well as outdoor furniture and marquees.

The economic upturn, coupled with the backlog of uncompleted construction projects of hotels, resorts, entertainment outlets and casinos in the Asia Pacific region,  will see a strong demand for products and solutions in the hospitality sector. The liberalisation of gaming laws in Asia will also result in more gaming and integrated resorts being built in countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and other Asian countries in the near future.

The building of the two Singapore integrated resorts with the participation of local furniture companies in contract furniture, furnishings and interior design has also boosted the demand for Singapore companies and operators with the experience, expertise and track record to handle the intricate challenges and requirements posed by resort and gaming developers.

Mr Andrew Ng, Chairman of IFFS Pte Ltd and President of the Singapore Furniture Industries Council said, “IFFS aims to fulfill the demand for services and products tailored to the hospitality and tourism sector. We predict this upward trend will continue to remain robust, especially with the opening of the two integrated resorts at Marina and Sentosa. We are confident Hospitality Asia 2011 will be able to satisfy the needs of the sector and help bolster Singapore’s efforts to become a premier meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) destination hub in Asia. ”

Some 150 exhibitors are expected to take part in Hospitality Asia 2011, bringing the total number of expected participants at next year’s IFFS/AFS 2011 to more tahan 700. Organisers of the event are hoping to attract hospitality professionals such as hoteliers, resort developers, entertainment outlet owners and operators as well as property developers, architects and interior designers to visit the Fair.

Mr Ng added, “Other hospitality shows usually focus on the whole suite of hospitality services and products. IFFS/AFS constantly works to stay on top of industry trends and developments. This new show, Hospitality Asia will draw on IFFS/AFS’ strengths of bringing visitors the most comprehensive and innovative product lines and furniture offerings in the region, while at the same time attracting a whole new set of visitors and giving our exhibitors an alternative new market.”

Hospitality Asia 2011 will be co-located with Deco Asia 2011, a segment on soft furnishings & home accessories, further establishing IFFS/AFS as Asia’s one-stop-shop for the world’s furniture sourcing needs. For more information on the IFFS/AFS, please visit
