Joseph Ruggiero & Associates, Inc. announced that color tops the agenda for the latest additions to the Joe Ruggiero Collection of Sunbrella® fabrics, which are debuting in the Miles Talbott showroom during High Point Furniture Market in April. This year’s spring market represents the 10th anniversary for the Joe Ruggiero home brand, including eight years designing fabrics co-branded with the Sunbrella trademark.

“We find that homeowners are increasingly comfortable with color,” Ruggiero said. “A consumer may select a neutral color for a larger piece – such as a sofa – but they will punch up the overall décor with colorful Sunbrella draperies, pillows, top-of-bed or smaller upholstered items.”

Ruggiero’s latest collection of Sunbrella fabrics continues his tradition of keeping a finger on the pulse of consumer color and style preferences. Ruggiero regularly visits retail outlets all across the country, meeting with sales associates and consumers to learn more about their wants, needs and desires in home décor.

“Our collaboration with Joe over the past eight years has been truly pioneering,” said Greg Rosendale, residential furniture fabrics manager for Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, the makers of Sunbrella fabrics. “Joe’s design vision combined with our fabric construction expertise and market knowledge has resulted in fabrics unlike any before available to the furniture industry in terms of look, feel and performance.”

For April market, Ruggiero is presenting five color stories of Sunbrella fabrics:
Seaside Group (crisp blue and white); Sandy Lane (soft neutral colors of the California coast); Lipstick Reds (rich red hues mixed with creamy neutrals); Malibu Mist (grays of misty mornings on the beach); and Tuscany Group (gold and sage of the Italian countryside.)

Seaside
The lead pattern in the Seaside Group is Chevy in the color Marine. This pattern is a bold chevron of bright white and deep blue, offering a soft and luxurious hand that suggests terrycloth. Joe’s Paisley adds diversity and innovation to this color group, inspired by Indonesian batik with paisleys that are widely spaced for a unique motif. Joe's Paisley reverses from Marine paisley on a white ground to white paisley on a Marine ground.
Rounding out Seaside is Cara in the color Marine, which is a classic blue pinstripe on a white ground, and a new coloration in Salt for Ruggiero’s popular Trax pattern.

Sandy Lane
With an emphasis on neutral colors, patterns in Sandy Lane are sure to become a staple of home décor. Headlining this color group is the Main Street pattern, which resembles menswear tweed and offers the hand of a hand-loomed fabric. Look for Main Street in the color Latte.

Drawing upon global influences, Ruggiero is introducing the geometric pattern Origami, which is based on the ancient art of Japanese paper sculptures and featured in the color Taupe. Ruggiero is again expanding his Trax collection with the addition of the color Fawn.

Lipstick Reds
Two patterns in the Lipstick Reds group are sure to draw a crowd during Furniture Market. Sunset Stripe and Dots Nice are both featured in the color Terracotta, which is a deep, rich interpretation of the growing popularity of red hues. Look for creamy white wood frames to create a striking package.

Malibu Mist
Ruggiero finds inspirations for his Sunbrella patterns from a great diversity of experiences, as illustrated by the Malibu Mist group. While strolling on the famed California beach at Malibu one gray and misty morning, Ruggiero was struck by the serenity that comes from gray tones.

The lead pattern in this group is Signature, which is a commemorative 10th anniversary offering. Signature was created from Ruggiero’s personal signature, increased in size many times over, resulting in a unique geometric pattern of circles and loops. This damask-like pattern in a warm gray is being offered as a Miles Talbott exclusive. Main Street in the color Classic is also included in the Malibu Mist offering.

Tuscany
As a celebration of the wheat fields of Italy, the Tuscany group features Sage and Gold. Neimes is the lead pattern, named for a European village, offered in the color Spring, a soft sage. Neimes is a classic stripe that transitions from sage green to light beige. Main Street is also part of the Tuscany group, colored in Corn.

“This is the first Market in which we are focusing extensively on color stories from Joe,” said George Jordan, president of Miles Talbott. “Everyone enjoys color, and the blue and white collection will be stunning in Joe’s space in our showroom. We are also looking forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of Joe’s home collection. Joe’s staying power in the marketplace absolutely places him among the elite of home décor brands.”
