Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale will welcome hundreds of his closest friends, followers and fans to Gallery Furniture this Sunday, January 17 as he throws a party for his Twitter followers and Facebook fans and refunds over $540,000 to those who “backed ‘Bama” in his recent College Football Championship Contest.
Customers that purchased $5,000 or more worth of furniture, electronics, rugs, accessories or bedding at either Gallery Furniture location between December 31 and 5pm on January 7 were given the chance to pick the winner of this year’s college football championship game. Alabama proved victorious and now customers who chose the Crimson Tide will receive half of their Gallery Furniture purchase back in the form of a refund check on Sunday night.
The party begins at 6pm at both locations and will feature food from Post Oak Grill, special deals just for Facebook and Twitter and a first look at the all new Gallery Furniture website. Social media is a growing part of McIngvale's marketing strategy and by throwing the party and offering specials just for them he hopes to create a value for those who follow his posts.
“When we first started with Facebook and Twitter, I wasn’t clear on how social media could help business,” said McIngvale. “But then I saw the power of the people on social media and that, coupled with traditional mediums we were already invested in like TV, radio and print, makes for a winning marketing strategy.”
