AmericasMart announced that this January, the there will be new expansions, reaffirmed commitments to growth, fresh designs and two exclusive events found at  AmericasMart and the Atlanta International Area Rug Market featuring the National Oriental Rug Show.

Retailers and designers can expect a spectacular experience as they explore the Area Rug floors, starting with the National Oriental Rug Show on floor 2. The permanent floors will a have refined look as exhibitors have relocated, expanded and refreshed their showrooms on floors 3-6. This collection, along with the other Home furnishings and accessories offerings throughout the building creates a comprehensive destination. Retailers and designers are invited to celebrate the opening of the Area Rug Market at the Exhibitor Open House Reception on Thursday, January 7 at 4 p.m.

Spotlighting the 2010 January Market are the Area Rug industry’s two premier events:

  • The Museum of Introductions (MOI), an exclusive showing of new product introductions in a sophisticated setting. Grand Opening on Thursday, January 7 at 9:00 a.m. (open Thurs-Sunday)
  • Acrobatique: The 2010 America’s Magnificent Carpets Awards—sponsored by Architectural Digest—celebrating the triumph of design achievement in the industry’s most spectacular introductions in one night of elegance, excellence and excitement. Complete with a high-energy performance by The Peking Acrobats, preceded by a lavish cocktail reception. Marriott Atlanta Marquis Atrium Ballroom. Saturday, January 9 at 6 p.m. 

Additionally, AmericasMart will host Area Rug-specific seminars within its renowned educational program AmericasMart University (AMU):

  • Does Selling Oriental Rugs Have You Tied in Knots?

    This seminar focuses on how Oriental Rugs are made and discusses the events in the past 50 years that have profoundly impacted the product, where it is sold and what it sells for. This is an ASID Approved seminar worth 0.1 CEU credit.
