The Suppliers Division of the American Home Furnishings Alliance announced that it has awarded $2,000 scholarships to six students who are children of AHFA member company employees.

Recipients include: Bradley A. Setzer, son of Charlean Setzer, who is employed by Hickory Springs Manufacturing in Hickory, N.C.; Tameria Y. Horton, daughter of Nicole Horton, an employee of The Bradburn Company in Atlanta, Ga.; Caiela L. Payne, daughter of Tammy Shackleford, an employee of England Inc., in New Tazewell, Tenn.; Emily L. Kenworthy, daughter of Abby Moose, an employee of Precedent Furniture, Newton, N.C.; Aaron L. Stamey, son of Wendy Arroyo, an employee of Broyhill Furniture, Hudson, N.C.; and Stevie R.  The Supplier Division Scholarship Program, now in its eighth year, is open to all AHFA member companies. The one-year scholarships are based on financial need and merit of the student. All students age 21 or younger who are enrolled in or planning to enroll in a four-year college or university, a junior or community college or a vocational or technical school are eligible to apply if they have a parent who works for an AHFA member company.

The program is supported by an annual golf tournament held each June. This year’s tournament will be Thursday, June 4, at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. Some 72 golfers have signed up to participate in the event. Additional golfers are welcome. Contact AHFA CEO Andy Counts at acounts@ahfa.us for information.

Applications for 2010 scholarships will be available later this year on the AHFA website, www.ahfa.us. The deadline for applications will be January 31, 2010.
