Saloom/New England announced the launch of their new Gardner Contemporary (GC) division, with a collection of contemporary dining pieces inspired by modern, minimalist sculpture. The company says that the GC line blazes a new trail for contemporary design in the American furniture market. Based in Gardner, Massachusetts, the product line brings the tradition of the once great “Furniture Capital of the World” full circle with their combination of traditional craftsmanship in solid woods and bold contemporary design. Led by owner and designer, Peter Saloom, the design team behind the Gardner Contemporary line has created a collection of dining furniture that takes a more assertive contemporary design position. “We are proud to be a part of the long tradition of fine furniture building here in Gardner, but we feel stifled sometimes by the traditional design norms. So with GC we are throwing the design doors wide open,” says Peter Saloom. “Gardner Contemporary is a fusion of modern design and high quality, traditional craftsmanship made by hand in The United States”. Linda Saloom, Business Operations Manager, adds, “I am proud of our aggressive approach to business during these tough times. Rather than retreating we are moving aggressively into a new market sector. The recession has provided new capital assets at steep discounts, - we feel this is a good time to make a strong move into a new market.” The Gardner Contemporary range includes ten new dining groups, with four new finishes developed specifically for the line. The company has set up a website, www.gardnercontemp.com, to offer a preview of the line. It will be introduced this April at the High Point Furniture Market in the Saloom/New England showroom space, IHFC H1015. ABOUT SALOOM/NEW ENGLAND - Gardner Contemporary is a division of Saloom/New England, a 25 year old manufacturer of dining furniture located in Gardner, Massachusetts. GC was created to focus on contemporary furniture design. The purpose of GC is to present inventive contemporary furniture in solid hardwoods using fine joint making. The collection includes dining tables, chairs and buffet designs. GC will be shown for the first time at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, North Carolina in April 2009, and will begin production this Summer.
