Lazzaro Leather, a producer of stylish leather seating, accent furniture and handbags, reports that it has had several pieces of its leather furniture featured in room makeovers revealed last week as part of the latest One Room Challenge design contest.

"This is the second season we've participated in the challenge, and I'm always impressed by the creativity and enterprise of these highly talented designers," said Lauri Cryan, president of Lazzaro Leather, a challenge sponsor. "They designed some amazing new rooms, and several drew on our diverse range of stylish leather products to fulfill their inspiring visions. The gorgeous rooms they created demonstrate the ability of leather furnishings to add zest to any room setting -- from traditional to contemporary and everything in between."

Now in its 10th season, the One Room Challenge™ is a biannual design challenge organized by Linda Weinstein of Calling it Home, a leading do-it-yourself blogger with more than 15,000 followers on Pinterest alone. Twice a year in April and October, Calling it Home challenges 20 top design bloggers to transform a room over a six-week period and document the process in a series of weekly online posts.

On May 11, at the end of the sixth week, participants made their final reveals on their various blogs and social media channels. Lazzaro Leather proved to be a versatile option in three finished rooms by designers Gwen Hefner, Claire Brody and Kevin O'Gara.

Gwen Hefner of The Makerista, a design blogger near Kansas City, Mo., selected Lazzaro Leather's Modena chair for her redesign of a man cave for her husband. The Modena chair combines a puffy, plush seat with four sculpted legs of stainless steel. Details include elegant pleating on the back panels and rounded back and seat edges.

"Our Modena accent chair was a perfect choice for Gwen's man cave design," Cryan said. "Covered in a rich leather, this rounded chair provides both comfort and personality, and the metal legs add an extra touch of sizzle."

Claire Brody, an interior stylist in Austin, Texas, who blogs at clairebrodydesigns.com, selected two of Lazzaro Leather's Savoye armless leather chairs for her redesign. Her project transformed a formal living space into a classic yet modern, neutral-rich living room. To help achieve the desired look, she placed the two Savoye chairs side by side in the central seating area.

"Our Savoye armless chair leans modern with its creative combination of contemporary steel legs and premium, top-grain leather," Cryan said. "But the button tufting on the seat and back surfaces add a touch of traditional detail that ties in well with the other classic elements Claire included in her room."

Kevin O'Gara, a high school student and aspiring young designer/blogger in Atlanta, selected Lazzaro Leather's stylish Dorset sling chair for his master bedroom remodel, a mix of traditional and contemporary design. Covered in top-grain leather, the Dorset sling chair features a distinctive double-bar frame and leather arm pads which are distressed and hand-rubbed for maximum softness and a touch of rusticity.

"I'm absolutely in love with the new leather sling chair from Lazzaro Leather," O'Gara wrote on his blog, Thou Swell, about the choice he made. "It's comfortable, sleek and has a great modern sensibility. And the leather is beautiful."

This year, for the first time, House Beautiful magazine provided ongoing coverage of the One Room Challenge through weekly postings at housebeautiful.com as an official media partner. The program also included an active program of online linking between participating designers and design enthusiasts, providing a lively conversation about the room makeovers and a source of ongoing encouragement, support and recognition.

More about Lazzaro Leather: Lazzaro Leather is the exclusive distributor for the United States, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica of Guangdong Lazzaro Sunton Leather Goods, a 26-year-old leather tannery and quality furniture manufacturer located in Shunde, China. The frames of Lazzaro's upholstered furniture and other furnishings are constructed of kiln-dried birch hardwood indigenous to the Shunde area that is virtually knot free and bolted for stability. Lazzaro uses only 100 percent U.S. cowhide in its tannery - covers that are known for being larger and having fewer defects. Lazzaro offers solid-color leathers with a slight waxy hand for its more contemporary designs as well as vintage antiqued leather finishes for more traditional models. Since the company tans its own hides, it is able to monitor the quality in all facets of the tanning process to ensure consistency as well as quality finishes.
