Malouf Wins Multiple Prestigious Design Awards for French Linen Packaging

Furniture World News Desk on 12/18/2015

Malouf’s recently announced it's newest edition to the Woven product line, the high-end French Linen sheets, was awarded for its elegant packaging design by two well-respected design institutions; HOW Magazine and Graphic Design USA (GDUSA). The French Linen sheet set was chosen as an Outstanding Achievement winner in the HOW In-house Design Awards and received the American Graphic Design Award from GDUSA.

With more than 1,000 total entries and 69 award winners, the Outstanding Achievement award is a tier above and shared with only a select few, stand-out projects. This highly selective and well-regarded competition recognizes the best creative work produced by designers doing in-house work that demonstrated an ideal mix of concept, strategy and execution. HOW’s editorial and design team—along with White House creative director Ashleigh Axios, Coca-Cola Company design manager Alex Center and InSource director of marketing Ed Roberts—judged each project by business category and by how effectively the design achieved the stated business goals.

GDUSA’s American Graphic Design Awards is its original and flagship competition open to all the design community including design firms, in-house corporations, non-profit organizations and more. It honors outstanding new work of all kinds: print, packaging, point-of-purchase, Internet, interactive and motion graphics. A small percentage of its 10,000 entries were recognized with a certificate of excellence.

“It almost goes without saying that we are incredibly honored by the flood of recognition we, and especially our highly talented design team, have received this year,” said Sam Malouf, the CEO at Malouf. “Our commitment to detail—from packaging to product—continues to set us apart in an industry that demands inventive ways to reach consumers.”

The French Linen packaging breaks out of the box from traditional package design, literally and figuratively. The sheets are bundled inside a matching linen bag and hand-tied at the opening to give consumers easy access to both feel the tactile finish of the sheets and experience the color within. The bag is also stamped with a seal of approval showcasing its natural origins.

Derived of 100 percent pure linen from French flax, the sheets are highly durable and designed to get softer and more comfortable after each use. Natural flax creates linen that is breathable, light and airy with inherent moisture management properties for a fresh sleep environment. The sheets feature organic colors with a vintage wash for the classic, stylish look.

“Malouf’s in-house design team is honored to receive these recent design awards,” said Emily Bunnell, Maloluf’s creative director. “We love the challenge of designing packaging that communicates effectively as well as reflects the quality and value of the products within. I’m pleased to see that recognized not only in positive consumer-experience, but also in these prestigious design-circles.”

Malouf was also recognized earlier this year at the International Design Awards for achieving gold status in packaging for its Italian Collection sheets. Malouf will showcase its design awards and products at the upcoming Las Vegas Market in its showroom located in the World Market Center at C1540.
