NIWA Reports Record Expo Participation

Organizers for the Northern Indiana Woodcrafters Association reported record-setting participation of at the annual NIWA Furniture Expo held recently at the Michiana Event Center in Howe, Indiana.

A record number of exhibitors, buyers and dealers took part in the event, now its 16th year.

The two-day expo allowed participants to discuss industry news, identify customer trends, and reveal new opportunities for future growth and momentum. It is an important industry and economic contributor to the region.

The strong participation signaled the growing interest by customers for domestically crafted, heirloom-style hardwood furniture.

“Across the board – from homeowners to retailers and to builders and suppliers – there is a growing appreciation for the skill and time honored approach of handcrafted hardwood furniture,” said Mark Stoltzfus secretary for NIWA.

“It is our intent to further invest in our mission, so that members have a resource that supports their work and their dedication.”

NIWA also announced it recently hired a Northern Indiana-based marketing communications firm to develop and deliver messaging and promotional activities on behalf of NIWA leadership and Association members.

The work will include a new website, design of support materials, and advocacy for the Furniture Expo.

Preparations are already underway for the next event which will take place February 29, 2016 and March 1, 2016.

The Northern Indiana Woodcrafters Association (NIWA) is a member-focused association of furniture builders that sells wholesale furniture to retail dealers across the United States and Canada.
