Robert Petril Introduces Mod Life Collection

Furniture World News Desk on 4/5/2015

Marcel Sofa from Mod Life

Making its debut at the 2015 Spring High Point Market, the Mod Life Collection is the upholstered brainchild of veteran furniture designer Robert Petril. The company says it's a culmination of a 30-year journey in the home furnishings industry, and a never ending passion for creating “loveable” seating.

“As an industry, we do a terrible job of exciting people,” says Petril. “Other industries have consumers clamoring for their latest products, but not us. I’m doing my part to change that with Mod Life.”

Mod Life Collection is a collaborative project where innovative designers from around the world come together to bring fresh, mod, new looks for the home, with the belief that multiple design perspectives create world-class products. The company’s initial product introductions range from sofas and chairs to ottomans and headboards.

Joining Petril is Kiersten Hathcock, founder of Mod Mom Furniture. In addition to helming her own children’s furniture company, Hathcock creates adult designs for Mod Life. Other designers on the Mod Life team include furniture and interior designer Ari Signes of Valencia, Spain; fabric and art designer Skip Freas of Indianapolis; and fabric and art designer Samantha Cobos of Minneapolis.

Marcel Sofa: Clean and modern, yet classically inspired, Marcel features a slender, exposed wood base supported by splayed legs. The track-arm construction surrounds a contrasting, tufted bench cushion. Tight backed, it comes with two bolster and three throw pillows. Designed by Robert Petril and made in North Carolina

Aria Sofa:  Victorian meets Chesterfield. This dramatic, fully upholstered frame is supported with turned legs and features a deeply-tufted seat and back, with full-height, gently curved arms. Comes with three throw pillows. Designed by Ari Signes and made in North Carolina

Theo Sofa:  Theo is a chameleon, turning from transitional to modern depending on his wardrobe, but his most outstanding feature is his brightly-colored base, seen here in cobalt and available in 10 colors. An exposed wood, painted base with splayed legs supports a 3-cushion attached seat and back. T- shaped seat cushions. Back cushions and throw pillows feature accent button tufting. Finished with a contrast welt. Designed by Robert Petril and made in North Carolina

As part of a commitment to preserving American jobs, all Mod Life Collection products are made in North Carolina. The Collection can be seen in the Lloyd’s of Chatham showroom, third floor of the Market on Green building, at the corner of Green and Hamilton avenues.
