Lazzoni Celebrates Opening of SoHo Boutique With Gala Cocktail Reception & Art Exhibit

Furniture World News Desk on 10/11/2014

Lazzoni, the international contemporary furniture boutique, will host a cocktail party and art exhibition to celebrate the opening of its flagship store in New York City's ultra-chic SoHo district from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 23.

The reception will be at the 5,700-square-foot showroom, located at 26 Greene St., which is hosting an exhibition of international artists to support CITYarts. A portion of the proceeds from all sales in October will benefit CITYarts, a New York-based not-for-profit that involves youth in the creation of public art displays, and SoHo artists are donating pieces to be sold there.

The SoHo store is a signature component of Lazzoni US Chief Executive Officer Efe Kababulut's expansion strategy, which includes opening stores in metropolitan cities such as Chicago, Boston, Miami and Washington, D.C. In addition to SoHo, the company also operates New York-area stores in Chelsea and Paramus, N.J.

An environmentally conscious firm that avoids harming trees and forests, Lazzoni specializes in sleek, contemporary designs for urban high-rises. Many pieces, including sofas, bookshelves, desks and entertainment centers can be customized for individual spaces, wrapping around corners and expanding or contracting to conform to spaces of varying sizes. Lazzoni, which has 20 retail stores worldwide, also provides consultants who assess homes and map a unique furnishing plan that clients can view and modify via computer.

Expanding into home-staging was a logical outgrowth of that service, said Kababulut, who chaired Bisnow's "Residence of the Future" event in New York in July. Home-staging operations are based in Paramus, where Store Manager Fulya Can led a project furnishing several apartments in The Pearl, a recently renovated building on the Hudson River.

"I'm thrilled to be introducing Lazzoni to clients who aren't yet familiar with our brand, both with our beautiful new SoHo store and our home-staging service, which shows viewers the many options they have to furnish their homes in a manner that's both stylish and space-conscious," said Kababulut. "Lazzoni embraces fashion in a unique way, in terms of function as well as form."

A fourth-generation furniture manufacturer, Kababulut spent most of his youth in his family's factory and showrooms in Ankara, Turkey, before coming to New York, where he earned a degree in industrial design from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2009. The company was founded in Istanbul in the 1950s.
