David Pogue to Headline Hall of Fame Induction Celebration

Furniture World News Desk on 7/14/2023

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation announces that David Pogue, an Emmy-winning CBS Sunday Morning correspondent, NOVA host, former New York Times columnist and author, will headline the Hall of Fame’s 2023 Induction Celebration on Oct. 15 during the Fall High Point Market.

The go-to expert on disruptive tech and science in a fast-changing world, David Pogue wrote the weekly tech column for the New York Times from 2000 to 2013. For a decade, he also wrote a monthly column for Scientific American. His work on the CBS Sunday Morning show has won him six Emmy awards. He also has hosted 20 science specials for NOVA, the long-running science show on PBS.

“Whether he’s covering AI, autonomous vehicles, the future of technology in healthcare, a post-robot world or climate change, Mr. Pogue is a master communicator who brings even the most non-technical audiences up to speed,” McNeill said. “His highly entertaining keynotes prove that science and technology blend brilliantly with storytelling, humor and, frequently, music and song. In his presentation at the Hall of Fame’s upcoming Induction Celebration, Mr. Pogue will provide invaluable insights on how technology impacts our work, businesses, health, society and connections with each other.”

Pogue is one of the world’s best-selling “how-to” authors, with more than 120 titles and 3 million copies in print. These include seven books in the For Dummies series; his New York Times best-selling Pogue’s Basics series of essential tips and shortcuts; and the Missing Manual series of computer books. His 2021 book, How to Prepare for Climate Change, provides practical advice on preparing for an era of extreme weather events and other climate-caused challenges. His podcast, Unsung Science, features episodes that explore the origin story of an innovative science or technology achievement—as told by the characters themselves, from their first inspiration to the times they almost gave up.

“In his role as a top journalist for leading print and broadcast media, David Pogue has been at the forefront of new and emerging tech trends for decades,” says Karen McNeill, president of the Foundation board of directors. “With all the many developments that are taking place right now surrounding artificial intelligence, Mr. Pogue is in a unique position to provide an insightful update on where this and other new technologies stand, and where they are likely to take us in the future.”
