Summer Las Vegas Market Offers Resources for Retail Recovery

Furniture World News Desk on 6/12/2020

With revised dates and enhanced safety protocols due to COVID-19 recovery, Las Vegas Market will present thousands of furniture, home décor and gift resources to buyers and designers. The summer 2020 market, which will be held Aug. 30 – Sept. 3, 2020, not only commemorates the event’s 15th anniversary but also marks the grand opening of The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas, a 315,000-square-foot exposition facility that will house the market’s gift and home temporaries.

“While the last few months have been tough, we’re excited to play a part in getting the industry back to business,” said Bob Maricich, CEO of International Market Centers. “Although some elements of the Las Vegas Market will look different this summer, we believe that the next phase of the recovery process starts here.”

Assortment of Home Furnishings & Gift Resources

This summer, Las Vegas Market will present 4,300+ furniture, home décor and gift resources in 5.4 million square feet on one easy-to-shop campus. For furniture, the market will showcase thousands of lines on 31 showroom floors. Within gift, Las Vegas Market will present thousands of resources on seven floors in Building C and in the Expo at World Market Center. For home décor, the market features hundreds of resources on 13 showroom floors in Buildings A, B and C, and in The Expo.

Additionally, The Expo will debut during summer 2020 market with a tradeshow layout designed to enable social distancing and traffic control. The efficient-to-navigate facility offers seamless connection to Las Vegas Market’s permanent showrooms and includes six enhanced temporary category destinations: Design, Gift, Handmade, Home, Immediate Delivery and Luxe. As an added benefit to buyers, the summer 2020 Las Vegas Market also will run concurrently with the National Hardware Show, which runs Sept. 1 – Sept. 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Programming Shifts Digital to Mirror Buyer Sentiment

In line with buyer sentiment, Las Vegas Market’s programming and trend features will be presented through digital market channels before and after market. Pre-market educational webinar topics include Las Vegas Market’s proprietary FIRST LOOK and Ahead of the Curve trend programming, a first-time presentation of a Virtual Showhouse as well as programs addressing business practices during and after COVID-19, current market trends, color forecasting and more. Highlights also include daily showroom and temporary exhibitor videos, an Instagram Takeover with industry influencers and daily webinars. A full schedule of virtual programming will be announced soon.

Summer market also will feature the first summer presentation of IMC’s Market Snapshot, which showcases product intros, bestsellers and notable lines and exhibitors coast to coast. Buyers can follow along on the Las Vegas Market social media pages - @LasVegasMarket on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – and at www.lasvegasmarket.com/marketsnapshot

Together Safely

In consultation with a top global epidemiologist, IMC introduces new “Together Safely” protocols including the required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), temporal monitoring, social distancing, occupancy control, hand sanitizing/cleansing and significantly enhanced housekeeping. IMC encourages attendees to prepare for the market by familiarizing themselves with the protocols at www.TogetherSafely.com

As an extension of Together Safely, IMC will institute new registration requirements this summer. Elements include contactless badging, phased access and capacity limitations. Pre-registration for summer market, which is mandatory, is available here. Hotel booking through the Las Vegas Market’s official housing partner, Connections Housing, is now open at https://www.lasvegasmarket.com/plan/book-travel/hotels

Digital Tools Enable Pre-Market Preparation & Sourcing

Buyers and designers can utilize the Exhibitor Directory on the Las Vegas Market website and app for market planning and at-market navigation. As an added benefit, ShopZio, a B2B ecommerce platform powered by IMC’s Digital Innovations division, IMC_di, will fully integrate with all IMC’s market websites allowing vendors to reach new buyers, capture leads and grow sales and enabling retailers and designers to source and shop.
