Kas Rugs to Introduce Upton Collection by Libby Langdon at High Point Market

Designer, author, and television personality Libby Langdon will introduce her brand-new Upton Collection for Kas Rugs, which will launch at October’s High Point Market.

The patterns are rooted in classic design, from ancient civilizations, Mayan tiles, Parisian garden design, Asian trellis, and Moroccan ribbon, but are retooled to appeal to today’s styles. Some patterns and color combos are a play on Mid-century modern design, offering an almost optical illusion. While the colorways are muted and meant to work with various design genres, everything from contemporary to transitional to traditional, these rugs add another layer of visual interest to any space.

“With my new Upton collection, it was important to make sure to offer sizes that are big enough to work in the big open great rooms that we see in so many homes these days,” said Langdon. “Large floorplans require a large rug, which visually make the space feel more expansive, whereas a small rug plopped in the middle of a big room looks like a postage stamp and chops the room up, making it seem smaller. Being able to offer my rugs in sizes up to 12’x15’ ensures enough coverage for a large living space as well as giving a sense of comfort and coziness, which is ultimately what we want a rug to provide.”

Designs Include:

Mod Scape – This pattern draws on elements from Mid-century modern design, using angles and color combinations to create dimension and visual interest while leaving enough open space to keep the pattern from feeling overwhelming. Offered in three different colorways, Modscape works in various design styles, from contemporary to transitional.

Paris Garden – Based on the old great gardens of Paris, this pattern features connecting circles and intertwined squares, creating an interesting geometric pattern with an element of softness. The light cream field in wool is the perfect backdrop for the spa aqua viscose pattern outlined in a pale gray. Paris Garden has an easy elegance to it and works with many different design styles.

Groovy Gate – This is my signature pattern, having been used in everything from my outdoor fabric design to my lighting collections. It’s a very livable pattern, not too busy but has enough going on to keep it from feeling boring. The Groovy Gate pattern in this collection comes in a rich charcoal with the white viscose pattern outlined in black to add contrast.

Asian Trellis – The angles of this pattern are architectural in nature, making this rug appeal to both masculine and feminine sensibilities. The rich mocha background offers a soft warmth that’s mixed with the clean cool mix of black-and-white viscose.

Diagonal Tile – This graphic pattern is geometric yet subtle because the pattern repeat is not big, and the gray and midnight blue colors work beautifully together in many different settings. Featuring a pattern that mimics some very popular tile flooring designs that are trending right now, the Diagonal Tile Rug you can easily incorporate this chic look into any room in the house!

Streamer – The pattern of this rug has movement and interest but is still quiet enough to work in a space that has patterned fabrics. It’s stylish but doesn’t overwhelm a room. The palette of putty and pale gray is also very user friendly and can work with many color palettes and design styles.

In celebration of the new collection, Kas will showcase the entire collection in its High Point showroom, located at IHFC, G-270. Marketgoers are invited to the showroom on Sunday, October 20, from 4 to 6 pm for an intimate conversation between Designers Today EIC Jane Dagmi and Libby, during which they’ll discuss everything from how Libby started in interior design, built a strong team around her, and everything she's learned along the way.
