Furniture World News Desk on 6/5/2019

The Home Furnishings Association announced that it will be offering an Insights Experience in Cleveland, Ohio, August 14-15. The event will include workshops and other activities designed to help furniture retail store owners and managers lead their businesses more effectively.

After an opening dinner and networking session on Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, participants get down to work Thursday morning. Chris Nagel, senior director of team and leadership development at the Cleveland Clinic, will lead a seminar focusing on workplace empowerment. Chris trains executives to build teams that are collaborative, engaged and resilient in the face of constant change in a highly complex professional environment. Following further discussions over lunch, Jason Young will share lessons about motivating and energizing the human resources that set great companies apart. Founder and president of LeadSmart Inc., Jason earned his wings as a top executive at Southwest Airlines.

Participants will debrief during a Solution Room conversation, translating ideas from Nagel and Young to the real-world challenges of furniture retail. Then they’ll head for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and an evening of good food, drink, games and fun in a great city that’s enjoying a Great Lakes renaissance.

“Insights Experience is designed to provide meaningful education and professional development for furniture retailers,” said Sharron Bradley, CEO of the Home Furnishings Association. “This short visit to Cleveland will be fun and rewarding. We’re really excited about the opportunities it presents.”

Cost for the program is $99 for HFA members, $149 for non-members. Vendor pricing is $595. To reserve a place, call HFA Director of Events Kathleen Mitchell at 916-960-0277.
