Serta Debuts Mother's Day Promotion: Your Baby is the Coupon

Serta recently announced that it is kicking off a first-of-its-kind promotion called ‘Your Baby Is Your Coupon.’ for Mother's Day. And it’s just what it sounds like: bring in your baby to a participating retailer and receive a discount on a new Serta mattress or a free gift with purchase. The promotion will run from May 6th to May 20th, 2019.

“We wanted to take a playful approach with this promotion and give new parents what we know they crave: a comfortable night’s sleep,” said Melanie Huet, Chief Marketing Officer. “As a mom myself I’ve certainly been there. We also wanted to make it as easy as possible for new parents to benefit from a discount, especially as they are out and about with their little ones most of the time – so we thought, the baby can be the coupon! To our knowledge, this is the first time parents can use their baby as a coupon and we think our customers will have fun with that.”

For one lucky new mom, Serta is delivering additional comfort: the first mother to deliver a new baby and post about it on Mother’s Day 2019 will receive new Serta mattresses for mom and baby and a $3,000 babysitting fund to help catch up on comfortable Zzzz’s. All parents need to do is upload a photo along with date and time of birth on Instagram/Twitter tagging @Serta and using the hashtags #SertaBabyCoupon and #contest to be included for consideration.

The ‘Your Baby Is Your Coupon’ Sale will be supported by online digital activations, including influencer partnerships, an integration on Jimmy Kimmel! Live and the brand’s social media platforms.

The promotion is also the brand’s first effort as part of a larger campaign to engage Millennials and Gen Z, help freshen the overall image, and how the brand plans to reach consumers as a mattress company.

“We found that Gen Z is more likely to shop in store and experience the product before making a decision, so we challenged ourselves to take a different approach to a very tired tactic,” said Melanie. “Every holiday, people are bombarded with the same messaging offering a discount to buy furniture so we’re aiming to break through the clutter with this new program and reward parents with a comfortable night’s sleep from Serta.”
