AMS Imports, Inc. Introduces ANTA Scottish Tartans At High Point Market

AMS Imports Area Rugs announced that it will be launching a brand new collection of Scottish Tartans at High Point Market this month. AMS Imports is partnering with ANTA, a Scottish textiles and ceramics company founded by Annie and Lachlan Stewart. The company is located on Scotland’s northeast coast. This new collection will feature area rugs, fabrics, and throws incorporating the traditional Scottish plaid pattern.

Scotland, in the heart of the United Kingdom, may be known for the Loch Ness Monster, traditional Scottish kilts, and skilled bagpipe players, but this collection, staying true to its heritage, incorporates tartan patterns in unique, gorgeous designs. “We are always looking to introduce the newest designs to the American market,” says Anne Schewe, President and Founder of AMS Imports Area Rugs, “this type of plaid design being made in Scotland is unlike anything we have offered before. We hope home decorators and designers will enjoy these unique patterns as much as we do.”

ANTA carpets and area rugs are similar to the original flat weaves manufactured in Scotland in the eighteenth century. The pure wool tartan carpet was developed in 1985 when ANTA was commissioned to replace an original stair carpet in Inverness that had worn out after 55 years. Ever since, ANTA has been utilizing the finest craftsmanship and natural materials to make pure wool flat weaves in the Scottish Highlands. The rugs are made from British sheep wool and coated with Teflon to provide a level of stain resistance. The Teflon also makes the rugs easier to clean. The carpets are backed with non-slip wool felt and bound with pure wool binding. There is a wide range of traditional and contemporary designs. ANTA rugs are available in 24 designs in both standard and custom sizes.

ANTA throws are woven in Scotland from the softest lamb’s wool. Like all ANTA fabrics, the yarn is dyed before it is woven to ensure the colors are achieved consistently.

The natural hues of the fabrics are inspired by the Scottish landscape. These throws make perfect blankets, bed coverings, or curtains.
