Mattress Firm to Expand in Indianapolis with Acquisition

Mattress Firm, one of the nation’s leading mattress retailers, announced that it has acquired the current leases of three Indianapolis-area Sweet Dreams Mattress Center locations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition of Sweet Dreams will further establish Mattress Firm as a leader in Indianapolis, increasing its store count there to 12 locations and bringing the company’s total store count to more than 393 stores in 35 markets across 20 states. “This lease acquisition of Sweet Dreams is yet another step in our overall expansion strategy and underscores our commitment to grow both organically and through acquisitions,” said Gary Fazio, CEO of Mattress Firm. “We look forward to expanding our presence in Indianapolis and bringing our unique retail experience, sleep expertise and the broadest selection of products and brands in the mattress industry to even more consumers throughout the area.” Sweet Dreams currently operates five stores in Indianapolis; however, Mattress Firm plans to acquire only three locations. The other two stores have closed. The three remaining Sweet Dreams locations will be re-branded as Mattress Firm stores and adopt its expanded product selection, including brands from the nation’s top manufacturers, signature store format and Red Carpet delivery service. Mattress Firm expects to reopen the stores within the next couple of weeks.
