Candice Olson – famed for her ultra chic interiors created both on- and off-screen – will present her innovative yet timeless new upholstery collection at Charles Ray & Associates, Inc., 2050 Stemmons, 9th Floor, Suite 9002, Dallas Market Center, January 19, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Doors open at 11 a.m. in the showroom with a reception and book signing with Olson, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Copies of Olson’s new book, “Candice Olson on Design: Inspiration & Ideas for Your Home,” will be available to purchase for $19.95 from Charles Ray & Associates.) At 2 p.m., in the Center’s Hall of Nations, Olson will then present, “Candice Olson on Design.” Olson’s presentation will touch on her trademark decorating ideas from her popular television show, and showcase original design concepts that she has interpreted into her glamorous line of recently introduced upholstery. The designer will then return to the Charles Ray showroom for a brief time to preview the line to design professionals. Charles Ray is the first professional interior design showroom in the U.S. and Canada to present Olson’s collection in its entirety – 14 classic, contemporary frames in all and each accented by none other than Olson’s signature touch, dressmaker details straight from the runways. The line includes a headboard, five sofas, two dining chairs, two ottomans and four occasional chairs. For inspiration, Olson pulled furniture silhouettes and styling techniques from her 15-year career in residential and commercial design…even taking some influences from her on-air projects. “I wanted to showcase beautiful design schemes on classic shapes,” Olson says. And with her collection…she does. Olson wraps a wing-inspired occasional chair and even a traditional camelback sofa in luxurious damask and embroidered silk. The added touch, however, she says, is in the details: covered buttons, nail-heads and special waterfall skirting. “Candice’s design philosophy really resonates with consumers and the trade,” says Charles Ray, Charles Ray & Associates, Inc. The showroom is recognized as THE upholstery resource among the trade in the Dallas area. Ray continues, “She has a strong following...fans of her television series and designers that are inspired by her.” A constant on the floor at Charles Ray: hundreds of silhouettes ready to be upholstered in any of the showroom’s thousands of fabric options or leathers. “We offer designers a blank canvas to work with clients,” says Ray. Silhouettes including Olson’s are upholstered in white, enabling the trade to work one-on-one with clients from the Charles Ray fabric collection, as well as from Olson’s original fabric designs. Olson recently introduced her second upholstery collection at High Point Market. Interior designers will see ‘what’s new’ at Charles Ray & Associates in the next few months. About Candice Olson: Candice Olson is the a famed interior designer and the popular host of Divine Design, number one in the ratings in the US on HGTV and in Canada on the W Network. Olson also writes a syndicated column distributed through the Scripps Howard news service. Olson is a graduate of the University of Calgary in Canada, a former player for the Canadian National Women's Volleyball Team, and a alumni of the Ryerson University School of Interior Design.
