North Carolina-based furniture retailer Boyles Distinctive Furniture has joined with television reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to provide furniture to a Raleigh, N.C. family who is receiving a home makeover from the show Thursday, November 30 - Thursday, December 7. In September and October of this year, Boyles also joined with "The Dr. Phil Show" and DIY Network's "DIY to the Rescue" to design and furnish interiors for three families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will feature the Riggins family, who has consistently been faced with challenges. Their home is not equipped to accommodate either Linda or William Riggins' special health needs - Linda suffers from severe arthritis in her hip and William is legally blind. The flooring in the home has become dangerously rotten, outdoor vines have started to grow inside through cracks in the walls and the house has become infested with insects. The couple has three children, and their chief concern was that their home would be condemned by the city and the family would be forced to split apart. "We were more than happy to help when 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' approached us with this special project," said Chad Hendricks, Executive Vice President, Boyles Distinctive Furniture. "The Riggins family is obviously very deserving of this home makeover, and Boyles is thrilled to have the opportunity to furnish their house and help turn it into a home. We hope this furniture brings them many years of happiness." On Thursday, November 30, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" host Ty Pennington and the rest of the extreme crew surprised the Riggins in the show's first visit to North Carolina. The home was demolished and readied for the rebuild Saturday, December 2 at 8:00 a.m. Boyles will install the furniture Wednesday, December 6, between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. The show is projected to air Sunday, January 21, 2007 at 8:00/7:00 p.m. CST on ABC. During the build, the public can monitor progress 24 hours a day by visiting the home site as a spectator or by going to http://www.extremehomelifecommunities.com/.
