Luthy of Suburban Furniture To Receive Liveright Award

The Metropolitan Furnishings Association announced that they will be having their annual Awards Banquet at il Tulipano, Cedar Grove on December 5, 2006. Several important awards will be presented at the banquet that will include Dinner, Open Bar and Music provided by DJ Hunter Hayes. The Howard Liveright Memorial Award will be presented that evening to Kenneth X. Luthy of Suburban Furniture. The winner of this humanitarian award is selected by the past winners of the Liveright Award. Ken started out as a dinette manufacturer in 1975. He later moved on to a chain of sleep shops and in 1992 took over ownership of Suburban Funiture in Succasunna,NJ. He has contributed greatly to the Roxbury Chamber of Commerce, our industry and the MFA. The Service Achievement Award goes to Levine Jacobs & Company , represented by Roy Levine and Lester Soloway (retired). Lester Soloway began servicing the furniture industry in 1941. He and now Roy Levine have provided the most professional accounting, personal and business management services to the home furnishings industry for more than 55 years. Roy has served on the Executive Board of the MFA and participated extensively in industry events. Best Distributor Award will be presented to Union City Mirror and Table, Union City, New Jersey. Founded by Generoso Russo, Union City has been in business for more than 21 years. Union City provides quality merchandise to our retailers in the most timely, service free, and friendly manner. Representing Union City is son Chopper ... Chopper is also very active in the activities of the MFA and the association ‘s annual golf outing. The E. Louis Billington, Sr. Memorial Salesman of the Year Award goes to Herb Stein. One of the true gentlemen of the road, Herb has been a professional representative for more than 51 years. The members of the MFA have decided to honor Herb with an award to a sales representative who has distinguished himself in service to our industry. The Paul E. Gallagher Retailer of the Year Award will be presented to Flemington Department Store. Represented by Carl Resnick, chosen by the Reps of the MFA, Flemington Department Store is an agressive retailer expanding its ever-growing dominance in Hunterdon County. This award recognizes the professionalism and ethical conduct between the retailer and his factory representatives. In the furniture business for more than 40 years, Carl is a past president of the MFA and an active participant in Association events. The MFA urges retailers, reps, manufacturers, importers and industry suppliers to join them on December 5th for an elegant evening’s repast and dancing.
