SCFMA Honors 2006 Apollo and Design Excellence Award Winners

The Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association announced the winners of the prestigious Apollo Award for retail excellence. First, second and third place winners were named in two categories. In the single store category, first place was awarded to Sunnyland Furniture of Dallas, Texas. Sunnyland has the distinction of winning the award two years in a row. Leisure Living, Salt Lake City, Utah, received second place, and Dod & Eder of Oyster Bay, N.Y., received third place. In the multi-store category, first place was awarded to Georgia Backyard of Suwanee, Ga. Patios Plus of Rancho Mirage, Calif., received second place, and Waterloo Gardens of Exton, Pa., received third place. The Apollo Awards are co-sponsored by Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNERS: The Pavilion Bungalow by E-Z Up received the Lillian B. Winchester Best of Show award in this year’s Design Excellence competition at the 2006 International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market here. The awards are co-sponsored by the Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association and Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. E-Z Up’s Pavilion also took first place in the shade products category, one of 10 product categories judged in the design competition. Other category winners were as follows: - Cast Combination Furniture: Romanesque Sling Arm Chair by Telescope Casual Furniture. - Cast Metal Furniture: Sierra Cast Dining Table by Pride Family Brands. - Complementary Casual Products: Waterfall Shower by Jane Hamley Wells. - Outdoor Lighting: Woven Wicker Lamp by Terra Furniture Inc. - Rattan/Wicker/Woven Materials Furniture: Spinnaker Ying Yang Chaise by Laneventure. - Resin/Fiberglass Furniture: Winston Dining Chair by Grossfillex Inc. - Tubular Materials Furniture: Chorus Dining Table by Gloster Furniture Inc.. - Wood Casual Furniture: Horizon Sun Lounge by Barlow Tyrie. - Wrought Iron/Wrought Aluminum Furniture: Alexa Dining Arm Chair by Woodard. The Design Excellence Awards recognize innovation and creative product design. Best of Show was selected from among the 10 category winners.
