Weiman Furniture, Inc., announced that Michael Gennet, former president of the San Francisco Mart and former president of Lazar Industries, has joined the company in a management consulting capacity. Weiman, based in Christiansburg, VA was recently purchased by Interlude Home, Inc., headquartered in Trumbull, CT. Gennet’s broad, varied background encompasses strategic business planning, marketing, sales, and product development. “Michael’s knowledge of quality contemporary upholstery and his national retailer relationships will be invaluable to the Weiman and Preview brands,” stated Carl Philips, president of Interlude Home. “He will be instrumental in combining the strengths of our two companies and will help us integrate Weiman’s fine upholstery with Interlude Home’s contemporary, occasional, and accessory products. This is the first step of our reinvestment in the personnel, designs and products at Weiman/Preview.” Gennet served as president of the San Francisco Mart for over ten years and subsequently moved to Los Angeles to head Lazar Industries. His consulting practice is based in southern California, and he will commute to Christiansburg and also visit key retailers in the coming months. Weiman Furniture had been a subsidiary of Bassett Furniture Industries and is considered one of the premier high end contemporary upholstery producers in North America. Weiman and Preview have maintained relationships with numerous well-known designers, and both brands have become integral to the success of contemporary specialty stores and full line retailers coast-to-coast.
